Up next...Duo Mercury!
“What if Ed Wood and Delia Deetz played chamber music?”
That is Duo Mercury boiled down to its foundation. Pianist Kate Stocks and violist Adam Sterr first got together, initially as part of a piano trio, in early 2025. Their goal was to make haunting chamber music a regular part of the Milwaukee music scene. Recognizing that the traditional outlets for this type of music can oftentimes feel alienating or off limits to large portions of society, Duo Mercury aims to present their music through programs that are engaging, entertaining, and highly accessible. Splash in a mutual fondness for the absurd and they’ve arrived at something truly unique. Playing music that ranges from Beethoven to Piazzolla,
Prokofiev to Philip Glass; whether through collaborations with other art forms, pairings with bands from diverging genres, or just good old fashioned stand alone weirdness, Duo Mercury is here to bring whimsical adventures through music and the macabre.
Dear reader, allow us to paint a picture. Close your eyes, imagine yourself in a darkened parlor, just past midnight, deep in conversation with David Lynch, Morticia Addams and the cast of Young Frankenstein. The music you hear cutting through the din? That’s Duo Mercury.
They are insanely talented and we're very excited to welcome them! Let's all gather again to fill our senses with beauty and community so that, for a few hours, our spirits are lifted.
